Aside from his promotional efforts Colby has been a DJ for 15 years and has opened for numerous national acts including Peaches, Le1f, Mykki Blanco, In Flagranti and Pansy Division. Most recently Coleslaw has been hosting ‘Coleslaw’s Corner’, which is a drag show inside of planetarium at the Boston Museum of Science, and recently received a Hubweek Art Award for Provocative Performance.@coleslawinthecornerMath3caMath3ca was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but has been living in Boston since 2001. Like many involved in the scene, his love for music began when he heard his brother's collection of Baile Funk tapes at home. After moving to the United States, Math3ca started better curating his musical tastes when he was exposed to the gay nightlife scene in Boston. He befriended local DJ's: Brent Covington, James Derek Dwyer and Brian Halligan, and they soon became his mentors. He started by playing at small house parties among his friends, where the vibe was chill and the expectations were low. Soon enough he was asked to fill in for a gig for a DJ who cancelled last minute. After his first gig he circled around Boston as a guest DJ, fine tuning his music taste. In 2018 Math3ca finally created his own night, called LUV, with DJ James Derek Dwyer. This night was created the magical space Bella Luna Restaurant and Milky Way Lounge, the first gay bar Math3ca went to when he became legal. The inspiration for this night was to showcase his tasteful pop music and give back to the space he first partied at as a queer person.Hungry to play a more alternative sound, Math3ca collaborated with local iconic Drag Queens: Sham Payne and Just JP, to begin his second night, Serving Face, at the historic and sacred space of Jacque's Cabaret: Underground. In this night Math3ca takes the crowd through his musical playground with music ranging from warm and energetic house, bouncy Baile Funk, bumpy ballroom/vogue and smooth and fluid Alternative RnB.Math3ca also recently joined the creative mastermind team of Tiamarie (Heywhatsuphellno) and Static Queen to DJ a party called Gay Bash'd. This is a drag forward queer dance party with hardcore drag performers and a wide range of bumping music. Math3ca deeply believes in supporting queer music spaces, providing queer music spaces, and the continuation of queer music spaces in and around Boston He is passionate about making sure the space will be there for future queers who need freedom from the outside world.
