DONT ASK DONT TELL: PANSY DIVISION

You're a punk. Im a punk. Lets be punks together.

DADT is all about shattering boundaries and expectations. We are the alternative to mainstream gay culture and intend to keep it that way. So when the legendary punk rock band Pansy Division came to us and wanted to play DADT, what did we say? HELL YES.

Here is a lil background on the band:

PANSY DIVISION blew the closet doors open when they began performing in 1991 in San Francisco. There have been gay musicians hidden throughout rock music history, but Pansy Division were the first to be so boldly open about it. Founded by guitarist/singer Jon Ginoli and soon joined by bassist/vocalist Chris Freeman, with the intent of forming a gay rock band. Raised on a diet of 60s pop and 70s punk, their sound was suitably crunchy and catchy as hell. They wrote in-your-face lyrics, but did it with a sense of humor. Not only did their music and stance defy stereotypic norms of rock musicians being openly gay, they also broke gay cultural stereotypes that rock wouldn't interest gay people.

So what does all this mean?
It means tear out those ripped jeans and that leather jacket cuz its time to fist pump! OI OI!

DADT resident DJ Colby Drasher will be on the 1 and 2's delivering club gold laced with rock anthems! Expect a grimy and filthy selection of jams.

Our drag game will be strong as usual this month. If you missed last months drag show you missed ONE HELL OF A TIME. Only to be outdone this event of course by our seasoned queens.

In house photographer Nick Day will be synthesizing your souls with his camera and projecting amplified rock realness across the walls of Great Scott with his VJ skills.

DONT ASK DONT TELL: ANDROGYNY ft. Guest DJ BIANCA OBLIVION

Androgyny has existed as long as human beings have. It has been interpreted differently by many cultures- some view it not as "god intended" while others view it as being more mentally stable and evolved than those who are not androgynes. It has also been said those who are androgynous may be inhabited by two souls. It has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with identity. And lets be honest, in a couple hundred years my guess is that all of humanity will be a blend of genders. Who knows, maybe we will lose our gender to technology.

This is an event to raise awareness of gender and identity. It is an arena to experiment freely and gloriously with who you are. It is a celebration of life. It is a celebration of the future.

Returning to the stage this month will be the lovely and much desired Bianca Oblivion!

With her uncanny selection of club tracks and sweeping transitions you will lose all sense of singularity. For a peek into what she does check out her work here:
www.soundcloud.com/biancaoblivion

Resident DADT DJ Colby Drasher will be by her side spinning that hot house, fast footwork and club remixes. With over a over a decade of experience he knows how to read an audience and give them what they want.

Our Drag Show will twist all your preconceived notions inside and out featuring some of Boston's most progressive acts. Line up to be released soon.

Nick Day will be providing his infamously creative visuals cast across Great Scott as well as be our resident photographer.

Plus a drink list that's as informative as it is tasty. With specials named after androgynous torch bearers.

'All are welcome who welcome all' to what numerous media outlets city and nationwide call New England's freshest and long-going queer party.

This is DADT. This is us.

DONT ASK DONT TELL: Tribute to TWIN PEAKS w/ Guest DJ Diver

"A drunken man walks in a way that is quite impossible for a sober man to imitate, and vice versa. An evil man has a way, no matter how clever — to the trained eye, his way will show itself. Am I being too secretive? No. One can never answer questions at the wrong moment. Life, like music, has a rhythm. This particular song will end with three sharp notes, like deathly drumbeats." - Log Lady

25 years have passed since the original pilot aired of Twin Peaks...
.....and a lot can happen in 25 years.

As the return of this epic David Lynch classic approaches, DADT takes a moment to give tribute to it.

We are pulling out all the stops to make that coffee as black as it can be by dipping deep into all that Twin Peaks stands for.

We will be hiding Laura Palmer's diaries around Great Scott. The first person to find the real one receives free entry to DADT for the rest of 2015!

A misty northwest cocktail menu featuring beverages such as the David Duchovny Cross Dresser.
